Teito’s meeting with Mikage is to be a short-lived reunion, as his best friend succumbs to Ayanami’s control and sacrifices his life to prevent Teito from capture. Overwhelmed with guilt, Teito’s burning desire to avenge Mikage spurs him on to take the clergy examination in order to become a bishop and gain the freedom he needs to move about on his own. But even as he struggles to unlearn what he had been taught in back in the military to master the Baculus staff, his fast awakening powers soon becomes apparent to those around him. With the guilt of his friend death’s still clouding in his mind, will Teito be able to open his heart and make room for a new ally?
